So my hatch was supposed to be all lavender and blue silkies, but this pink skinned 4 toed chick has hatched?? My friend who gave me the silkie eggs said he only has silkies no idea how this has happened he came out of a silkie shaped egg .. no idea if mums own chicken eggs have muddled in 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ any idea what breed he is hes 1 week old now same height as the silkies but his legs are longer my kids find him hillarious calling him pinocchio cos his legs thin and long like matchsticks.

Weird. The chick looks like a mix, but I don't see any evidence of a Silkie parent. No feathered legs, no black skin, no crest or beard, no fifth toe, wrong comb type-- just nothing to indicate a silkie. So either there was a mix up somewhere or you chick is a silkie with very odd genetics.

I really believe it has no link to silkie at all, the mystery will be revealed when i know what breed it is.. maybe i should google what chickens lay egg like silkies ?

My suspicion so far is brown leghorn...

Bantams eggs are all roughly the same, so I'm not sure that will help. When the chick is older it will be easier to tell about its breed or mix. It's just not ringing any bells at this point.

Brown Leghorns have a very specific pattern to their down, and your chick doesn't have it, although she could be a cross of that breed. It's fun to guess but I really think you are going to have to give it time to see what develops. It's a cutie though-- that much is certain.
