Someone told me years ago that ice is bad for numbing. It does constrict blood flow and reduce pain but only temporarily. To get what would be considered good numbing and pain reduction you risk damaging the tissue. And once the affects wear off the pain and bleeding come back and quick.
I looked for research on the topic but didn't find any. I mention it because it makes sense to me and I'm not sure it's worth the risk.
I would normally agree, but in OP’s extreme temps it’s worth it IMHO; not for the pain but to constrict blood vessels until a blood clotting powder can be applied.

Yes , read all the suggestions and am very thankful everyone gives love concern for tootoo he's so lucky

Like everyone says I'll buy the good heavy SS scissor or blades both I'll get

Like @roosterhavoc says I'm kinda nervous that's why we call buther man for this process so afterwards we can stop his blood

Vet store told me there's 1 week their vit k stock will back
Someone earlier told me to tie his comb with a thread to stop / hold blood circulation I don't know if this works

He seems no problem except a bit of breathing and swallowing issue due to bent neck
He's on multivitamins I give 1 drop daily in his beak here is raining from 3 days temperature will get slightly cold manageable by sept - Oct

I yesterday order styptic powder vet
I also search for it's good substitute and got alum & corn starch
Also Ash (Ash I have in big quantity I refine it to make it fine powder)

Also I have some powder betadine .

Am still searching numbing options
Where inhaling anesthesia that birds take is very very expensive and that need proper monitor for pulse and heart rate
It's about 3400/- in INR & about 200$ in USD

Lidocaine is toxic so as adernaline solution

Hope I find some numbing options too
Now I have so many good advices I'll follow up and will update the day we successfully dub him by the grace of God

Thank you so much everyone u r my family:hugs

Use the dremmel with clean cutting head draw out your guide with felt tip one hold the bird another holds the comb in place the other cuts much less blood the dremel moves so fast it will cauterize as it cuts then cover with vaseline or neosporin no pain killer in please

I wish I call u here:hugs I'm just so much so much afraid

Then got this video
:duc
Here cock comb is similar with my tootoo but I'm very shocked to see there's no much bleeding as people says big Combs bleed:idunno
Yes but oh my! So many swipes with the razor to accomplish the task.
Scissors are definitely the way to go.

As for bleeding, I am always amazed how these cowboys castrate cattle, horses, brand or put ear tags on, all out in the field, no pain killers, no blood stop, nothing! Just hack it off, turn the critter lose and it's done!

Definitely watch some videos Saaniya, and also, after the procedure, make sure to keep him in a sanitary place away from the others for a while. Use some antibiotic lotion on the comb to prevent infection. Right after, I would keep him in a darkened area too, darkness quiets birds and he will no doubt be shocky. If it's not roasting hot when you do this, I would be ready with heat. Shock causes chilling which in itself can kill.

Just be ready with all your supplies, I think he will benefit from this over all. Every time we do stuff like this it's a risk. But speaking for myself, every procedure I've done has turned out well for the bird. If the issue itself is going to kill the bird, the procedure is worth trying.

I wish I was there Saaniya, I would definitely help you with this. :hugs

I have to run to town but will be back later to check up on you. :hugs
I agree here with you so much @TwoCrows
I wish I were there to help.

I know it's a very difficult task but once is done and tootoo is okay I'm thankful to all and god

But after that video of person cutting comb with razor it's very painful but I have a hope that big Combs can be removed too

Getting some confidence after reading all your posts. Thanks all. I too don't want to use blades ... Scissors are appropriate.

Good luck to the both of you, :hugs I am stressed for you guys! :barnie But I know you can do it!!

Keep us posted on how it goes. :)
