I'm so sorry. I understand what you're going through. We just lost our dog of nine years at the end of December. Having animals is such a blessing, but it hurts like anything when they have to go.

redhen, I'm sorry you're having to go through this pain. I wish there was some form of condolence that would make the hurt go away, but the only thing I can think of to say is that you tried everything you possibly could. Some things are meant to be and sometimes you have to think of it that way. Maybe Duke passed on because he knew there was another dog out there that absolutely needed you. Duke will live on in your hearts and I hope that you and your husband will remember Duke always for his life and not his final moments.
