What does May do?

I don’t really know how to describe it but she just seems very alert and intelligent, was the first to learn her name (and some others still haven’t), genuinely seems to pay attention when I talk to her or say her name and sometimes runs over when I say it, etc. and she also rarely gets lost or stuck outside. Sometimes the others pace the run fence and can’t figure out how to get in or out even with the door wide open lol she never does that. And some others get separated from the others cause they’re so busy eating or are last inside. She is not. She just seems intelligent.

That's really cool. Has she ever had chicks?

No she hasn’t but we don’t have a rooster and plus she’s never gone broody before. I bet she would be a great mother though. My Orpingtons have a few times, my one Orpington that I lost a year and a half ago went broody like 5 or 6 times the year she died lol I was planning on letting her the following spring if she went broody again but then a hawk got her fall 2017 :hit I think she would have been a great mother too. My other Orpingtons I don’t think I would trust lol too stupid and food obsessed :lau

Aww sorry to hear about your hen. I just recently lost an OEGB roo to a hawk he was defending his girls. I have 6 hens sitting on eggs right now and everyone it will be their first time it will give me a chance to see who the best mamas are and they may get a chance to do it again. 2 are Salmon Faverolles which I chose this breed because they aren’t suppose to go broody:hmm

Thank you!! It was sad. She was my favorite hen and the sweetest thing. She loved being held. One time she even sat on my lap for forever after begging to be picked up lol and whenever I put her in the broody cage she never fought me. Was always so quiet and happy to go in it and just quietly talked to me when I visited her. Never bit me or hissed or anything. Did hiss at the other girls a couple times LOL and before the broody cage even when I would just toss her off the nest she would just run around clicking outside, all POd but never attacked me or fought me lol one time she even ran right out and pancaked again immediately right in the run, in the mud. :lau
