I just avoided this myself actually. The heat lamp went out, I went to tighten it once it cooled down and the whole thing burst into flames! Luckily the brooder is right by the barn door and I flung the whole light out into the snow. I'm glad I caught it before I went to bed that night or I'd have lost all my chickens for sure.

I hope your insurance covers that!
