Most gentian violet is just gentian violet, 1% or 2%, I think. BluKote has gentian violet and alcohol.

BTW zoologix.com said they could perform testing but I will have to tell them what pathogen(s) I want them to test for.

Yes, and the canker sores will keep coming back. They are carriers for life and will spread canker to other birds. Use acidified copper sulfate to keep it in check. Dosage is 1/4 teaspoon per gallon of water for 3 days in a row once a month.
