I took my son for his ACT test today. It was 31f , so he wore his hat. We waited in line for a bit. It was at a different school than his and the line was very uh, diverse.
3 girls in front of us were wearing burqas- the islamic head to toe deal. We stepped up and the lady asked his name, found it on the list and asked for his ID. He showed her and she demanded "take off your hat so I know you are who you say you are". My son dutifully complied. I said to the lady "why is it that he had to remove his hat, yet you let the three girls in front of us wearing burqas go through without question?"
She looks at me sourly and says "NEXT".
I am growing tired of getting bent over to allow, even promote other culture's customs often at the expense of our own.
In any country where this is customary dress, Americans wouldn't dare pull this crap!
