This place is awful

OMG!!!! I agree it's addicting. Thank goodness I bought a huge bag of feed for my babies. maybe it will keep me away from the feed store for a while anyway. It's the internet thats gonna get me in trouble though.

Like clockwork every morning I am checking out what's for sale on here and thinking hmmmmmm!!!!!

So won't be much longer and my resistance is gonna fail me.

I haven't even gotten my chickens yet and I'm scared to fall into the same TRANCE you are in! I already can't resist coming to this website and once I get those fuzzy bottoms home, I'm worried I'll be doing the same thing!!

You are all so funny. Glad I am not the only one addicted to the cute fuzz butts.
I am trying hard to talk myself out of wanting the silkies that are nearby, so far haven't found a good reason not to get at least a couple. I know they would "stand out" from all the rest so I can't get them without DH realizing.
Can anyone tell me, is there a good reason to not get silkies with the breeds I already have. BO, RIR, BR, Isa's? Maybe that will give me reason to just say no. lol

*sigh* You probably only have a week for the pb&j to start getting old and plus the milk bill will go through the roof! Gotta wash down that that pb&j!!

Hmmmm, cereal is good for them. Just buy a zillion boxes of cereal. Wait!! Better yet keep sending them to friends' houses. If the kids are at a friends they'll eat THEIR food and not yours!! lol

I'm getting bad over here, too. We had 13 hens and 1 roo. Now we're up to 46, and most have been added in the last month. lol Now I'm trying to figure out how to sneak more in w/o hubby noticing. Oh, wait I have 20 eggs in the bator, too.

Help!

I think the only cure for this addiction is to be tied down to something, so I can't use the internet or go to the store.

it's a lot of fun raising livestock. I had rabbits and chickens for years, and all us looked forward to raising the babies. Problem is babies grow up fast, and before you know it it's time to process the meat. I don't look forward to it, it's a dirty job, but it has it's rewards. If you don't do it pretty soon you are over run with birds or bunnies, and your feed bill goes thru the roof.
Right after the hatch started last night my grand daughter was asking to name chicks, and asking me if I had to kill this one, or that one. I told her that we should not think about that but enjoy the chicks. I do immensly ejoy wathcing my grand kids with the chicks. They will also help with the processing in a few months. It's a good lesson for them.

I know what you mean, about a year ago my hubby said that I could get 3 chicks. Well then I convinced him to let me get the kids a present, I just didn't tell him what and got them their "own" chicken, I have 7 kids. Up to 10, but then I needed a rooster so I had 11 through most of the year and then my roo died so I had eggs hatched, well just 1 hatched, so I bought 3 more full grown hens with it. So I was setting at 14 then I hatched 12 eggs, and all 12 hatched! Well I bought 20 eggs the other day....the addiction only gets worse.

Well I am so glad I am not alone.

I started with 12 in 2006 and I now have over 50, plus what is about to hatch in the incubator.

I always just tell hubby, "I am only replacing the ones I lost and selling the others."

For Sale sign goes up between 4 and 430pm and comes down between 6 and 7am. NO ONE is getting anymore my chicks, I have gave enough away already. By the way, they were given to the 8yo giel down the road for her 4H project.

Ok!! I realize that there is no cure for this.
But, does anyone know of a website or some place where we can go after our spouses kick out of the house because they didn't want chickens in the first place?
