This Plucker Kit attaches to a handheld drill....on sale

So, I'm willing to drop 20 bux on this drill attachment if it actually works well.

Has anyone here actually used such a dingus?

What do you do, hang the bird by the neck and just go at it with the drill attachment?

How long does it take to pluck a bird?

my question exactly! And how many could u pluck? So what, you scald them, put them in a bucket, and stuck the drill in there???

Yes I made one of those plucker with straps, I got the straps in the Automotive department at Wallmart. Just about any farm store, or hardware store has them. It is a pain to cut the straps.

We have finished out broilers for the year so I only Got a chance to test on a turkey and it did do a very good Job on a turkey. Purple Chicken has also made one and he had much better luck with his then I did with mine.

1. If you make your own, use a good exacto knife to cut the strips I started off with a cheep one that had a plastic insert to hold the blade and it kept breaking. I switch to one with a metal insert and it worked better.

2. For the center shaft don't use ready rod, nuts and a lock washer. Not matter how tight you get it.It will still come undone. Use a carriage bolt.

3. Not all Bungie cords are the same, So it might take a couple batches to find the correct ones. It might even be cheaper to get the replacement finger for this plucker then mess with cutting Bungie cords.

4. Unless your a hard core DIY type who likes to tinker a lot, go buy one. Because a good one does work. (I hate plucking).

5. If you are a hard core DIY type keep trying if yours doesn't work, because they do work.

Q. How long to pluck a bird?

Less then a minute for a standard size chicken.

Q. What do you do, hang the bird by the neck and just go at it with the drill attachment?

We hang by the legs since we use shackles on the legs to scald the bird. and dip the upside down.

Or you could just hange by the neck.

Q. He doesn't explain it that well, but you basically cut each strip into a T so the cross part won't go through the hole you make.

I did a bunch of pictures while I made it, but haven down loaded the pictures yet.
Hopefully I will get it done the next few days.
