this really confuses me.

My chicken has not layed her first egg yet and it is going to be snowing in a week or 2 and if she hasnt layed it by then will she wait till next year because of the weather?

Johnn-my understanding is-it depends on which breed of chicken you have. Some chickens will lay close to normal through the winter while others slow down or stop.

Brooded out some New Hampshire based RSL's last fall and they came into lay in January. Our January weather here is -30C at night and -5C during the day and we only have 7 hours of sunlight. The laid like gangbusters.
