This should get a chuckle out of the women!

I am with you on this one...on ALL counts.

I was at the grocery store the other day and saw bread was on sale (a dollar a loaf

) so I bought a *few* loaves thinking the birds would LOVE it.

Some neighbor passed by me and said, "wow! that's a lot of bread! Are you feeding an army?" I said, "NO, it's for my chickens..."

...even as the words came out I was regretting them.

She gave me this blank look and started to laugh saying "Yeah right!"

I laughed a bit too and said, "No, really. It is!"

For some reason she found this to be REALLY funny. I mean, she had tears running down her face and was guffawing SO loud!

I didn't think it was all that funny but I chuckled along anyway.

That is funny!

I've always been like that. I always think of my animals first even before myself. My b/f knows this too, we were best friends for 16 years before we got together!

We are the ones "hen-pecked", lol!!! There is always a bowl of chicken food on my counter too!! My family teases/whines about it all the time too, too funny!! No wonder we are on this forum all the time, we are all quite alot alike!!! Darlene

by the way, this morning they will have oatmeal, haha!!

As hard as it was to finally admit....he has gotten to spoil the chickens as bad as i do. Here is a roof he built for the silkie coop because they get all wet in the rain. I think it cost a bit more than the oats

My DH is jealous of the time I spend with my chickens, and the fact that I cook for them. I fixed rice in my rice cooker the other day. He asked if there was any left. "Sorry, hunny it's all gone." What he doesn't know is that I was saving it for my chicken's evening treat!!

I can relate to exactly what you all are saying. My DH thinks I think of the chickens before him. He has learned to cook lately. His meal that he likes to cook is steak and fried potatoes. It is funny how they do act isn't it?

My DH is way more spoiled than the chickens! That's the problem! I've always catered to him, and still do. I will cook him whatever he wants, but he is a very picky eater. My chickens, on the other hand, are not picky, and always provide entertainment when they eat with such enthusiasm!
The chickens don't take me for granted!
