The Back Bay equestrian neighborhood? Ahh, I love that area! I'd live there in a heartbeat if it weren't so durn expensive! There is still a battle there, tho. People are knocking down the little 80 year old 2 bedroom places and erecting mansions. I wonder how long the flavor of the community will remain as it is.

Great story!

Game on, hell ya!

That is one neighbor I can relate to.

Let me tell you, some people have a real problem with roosters, my husband is one of them. They can't stand to hear those early morning crows. DH acts as if I'm crazy to love it. Guess what? I AM CRAZY!!!!

It should not be like Mexico...its the USA!!! I cannot blame anyone for complaining. Sounds like a real mess.

I do plumbing work, and and being sensative to the immigrant popultion in Northern Illinois...I try to be calm and explain you CANNOT flush chicken bones and carcasses down the toilet!

Farm animals bring waste and mess...try mixing it up with them living in the city, running loose, with no one cleaning up after them. Yuk!

It is a cultural thing, someone needs to teach these folks how to raise their farm animals politely, and be clean about it.

We must be responsible and aware of how are animals may affect our neighbors...to an extent of course!

The comment was made that it was becoming Mexico, but it was original a "black" neighbourhood...
The comment made it seem that he was being racist against the new folks immigrating from Central America and Mexico.

I'm sorry if I've gotten feathers ruffled.

No kidding- when we were convincing our city to let us have chickens, ONE LADY opposed us (and caused a WHOLE LOT of trouble). apparantly she complained about everything. Even the snowplows. Apparantly she used to be an elementary school teacher. Bet she was the nun-like kind that hit you with rulers.

I can't use my ruler anymore???? When did that happen?
No really though, I understand what you mean and it is one of my bigges pet peeve stand on my soap box and scream issues. When one person or religion can take away the rights of others it is not right.

My girlfriend who lives in Santa Ana Heights, is taking these 'mansionisers' to task as what they're doing is largely illegal. I wish her luck!

If you haven't been by there is a while, you'd be surprised. The contrast between the old and the new is quite stark. But, it's still cool to drive through there and see the chickens wandering around in front of their owners homes (the little houses, not the mansions). My "if I won the lottery" house is the last one on Mesa Drive - the one with the duck pond and all the chickens!

I like those folks. Doesn't seem to matter to them what is happening all around them. It looks to me that they really enjoy their little farmette just the way that it is.
