The peachick is doing great I just cleaned and re-arranged its playpen. Now it has just one perch and part of the perch has a blanket draped over it so it has a little tent. I am about to hold it since it is crying. I let it run around in the living room and it started to jump up and flap then land then jump up and flap again as it ran. It is getting better at flying. Every time I pick it up it flaps. I found out today that if I put the chick on its back it gets really still and sometimes falls asleep. I know you shouldn't put them on the ground outside but I let it walk around outside for a few minutes just for fun. It didn't eat anything outside and it had trouble walking through patches of tall grass. I can't wait for it to grow its crest...I think I remember reading that they get their crest at 3 weeks? Everyone thinks the peachick is a boy, but who knows...I kinda want it to be a girl because it would then be a second girl for Alto, but then I also would like it to be a peacock because it would be a really pretty peacock with those white wings...
Really it kills the bunny? I was wondering if I did it too much if it could kill the peachick so I don't do it for too long, I just had to clean its tummy because it was dirty.
The peachick is now starting to use its perch, I think this new perch is just the right size. Our poodle is so confused, last night she lay next to the playpen as if she was keeping the chick company and protecting it then when you would take it out she would try and jump at it and snap at it so we have to keep her away from it. I think she gets too excited when it moves especially when it flaps or runs and it reminds her of her squeaky toys. I think when it gets bigger she will be afraid of it just like she is afraid of my adult peafowl.
Okay,,just to help the thread stay alive,I took 2 pics of our first Cameo B/S that hatched a few days ago.Any experts at early sexing can give their opinion. Cameo W/E are due to hatch Monday, and straight Cameos are due to hatch Tuesday so this pea has some company.
I don't know if this wing pic will help determine the sex,but this first lone hatch pea likes the attention

So glad ya are having fun with your pea.
Ya know it will be ok on the ground as long as ya are watchen it.
What i learned is they will sometimes get on a spree where they will swallow just about anything ,poo, shavings etc even though they got the best variety of diet, so i can see why they could catch something from other birds but you only have peas so i would have fun with it on the ground, plus it will learn to stay around allot closer if you start it now.
