Those Curlycue Light Bulbs!

But you will in a couple years Cyn, or be reading by candle light. Most people here say "buy American". These are ONLY made in China!!! Put your money where your mouth is, I say!
P.S. Do you trust China to put "just a little" mercury in it???

Well, candlelight it is.

"In the house I use the natural light "sunlight-replacement" bulbs. They're supposed to help with seasonal depression. DH and I both get that mildly in the winter months"

We are in complete agreement! No one has the right to choose my light bulbs. I talked about stockpiling incandescents, but I haven't done it yet. I may switch to candles. Flourescent light is depressing and NO ONE looks good in it.

Awwwww you would look good in any light mamaKate! No argument here though and hadnt even thought about stockpiling! Thanks for that. Dont know what the world is coming to but it aint gonna be pretty!

These mercury light bulbs are another example of why it doesn't pay to reinvent the wheel. "Going green" causes more and more problems as time goes by...

I'll keep my incandescent bulbs thanks.

It's funny you mention that. The Texas representative I talked about earlier said that no where in our constitution does it say that the government can decide what kind of light bulb we can use.But you know how that goes, Will

Sorry Spacher, I was unclear.

There is less mercury in a CF bulb than is spewn into the atmosphere by producing the electricity that it takes to run an incandescent bulb (assuming coal production which is the case in my area and much of the US).

I'm not sure that makes it much clearer. But the bottom line--the amount of mercury involved is much less using CFs than using incandescents.
