Thought I was gonna have a freezer full of deer meat...........

That wouldn't necessarily contaminate all the meat. The hindquarters, for example, may have been fine.

Once a deer has been skinned, you can easily see and trim off any meat that's bloodshot, bruised or dirty.

Next time!

I've hit 8 deer in 10 years with various vehicles.

Only one was killed dead and worth keeping and processing.

Why do I waste my time shivering in the woods every season? I'm just going to follow you around from now on.

I am going to assume that your question was serious and not tongue in cheek.

That is a loaded question. I think that in every state in the US that has deer the deer are considered a game animal. Therefore they are subject to game laws and do not come under any classification of predator. Some states do have nuisance permits.

ive gotten many deer that have been hit by cars,,,,, and the sherriff was happy cause if ya told him it was there, and didnt want it,,he would have to take it to a soup kitchen or something like that,,, my local sheriff would call me if someone hit 1 and didnt want it,, we either ate it if it was good,, or used it as bait for traps

I passed a dear tonight with the typical CT lady on her cellphone calling
the police. It was still kicking. What a waste. If I only had feezer space.
I could have euthanized it (still kickong and in pain) and fed my family
venison all winter long. What a waste...

I caught a deer once near my chickens. It was trying to recruit them
to a liberal Massachusets college.

Much cheaper than fixing the car every year.

Yeah, I did think of the possibility that some of the meat was still good....then I thought of the possiblility of dragging that big heavy thing up a hill, figuring out how to get it into my car (yes, car LOL), forcing my Dad to help clean it over the phone and then not even getting enough for a pot of stew.

I decided it couldn't be worth THAT!!!

I am going to keep my eye out for that "next time" though. Now that I know it is legal to just take it I WILL if I ever get the chance.

We don't have any soup kitchens around here which, I guess, is why so many just go to waste. However, I also know there are tons of needy families. I wish more got used instead of just rotting.
