6 pips still only 1 out tho. I'm thinkin its going to be like popcorn in there while I'm sound asleep! Why do chicks always insist on hatching in the middle of the night?!
Let me know what you decide about the carton vs floor, I am a first timer struggling with that decision too. Thanks.
Jane Marie- good luck and post pics!!! I had been worried about my humidity not stay in the 40s but now I am deciding that I am not adding water unless it gets below 25. I had them at 39 last night and didn't add water and this morning it went up to 44 on it's own, I think the eggs are finally losing some of their weight so I'm not adding anymore. I even took a sponge OUT today and it's still fine. I wish I would have done dry hatch from the start of this one! Glad to see so many support it!
Thanks everyone! #2 is out clean as a whistle! Will post pics tomorrow.
Terri I'd imagine its terribly humid any time of year in LA. Do you have trouble getting the humidity low enough?
sangel what day are you on? And what are you hatching? I think the carton so far is working out pretty well! They pop the top off and then just sit there in the shell and rest a while til they finally push themselves out onto the floor. Its actually pretty cute to see them just settin in the eggshell! And it'll also keep the chicks from banging the rest of the eggs around! I always worried about that.
