Hopefully this is the right forum for this thread. I have been thinking about expanding my flock. I don't want to hatch, because I don't have room for many roosters. My current idea is to let my broody hen (an easter egger) sit on wooden eggs for 21 days, then giver her day-olds to raise. Any thoughts/suggestions?

You don't have to wait 21 days -- hens don't consult the calendar or read the books on incubation -- you do need to let her set long enough to be certain she is good and serious about her broodiness so that she won't be thinking of jumping ship when you introduce the chicks....it is also important to have a "plan b" ready for brooding the chicks should she reject the potential adoptees.
