We have 6 BR's now, 1 is about a year old, 3 are around 10 months, and 2 are chicks from this spring, I think about 9 weeks now. They are my husband's favorite breed so far, they are fluffier than the others. Ours are flighty but bold when it comes to food / treats. We had one that loved to be petted, but a hawk got her back in January. All the others just want to be fed, but not touched.I have heard barred rocks are a great hardy breed
We bought 2 GLW pullets last year, totally gorgeous cockerels I sold them and bought 4 GC'sI really want some laced Wyandotte’s they are so pretty
I have one, but I'd love to have more. She is so pretty.I really want some laced Wyandotte’s they are so pretty
Lol, I get that! I'm glad everyone has different taste, how boring it would be if everyone liked only one type and color of chicken!I've actually never had BRs. I agree that they're a nice breed, but I've just never really wanted to have them. Their pattern is kind of... I don't know -- they make my eyes feel a bit weird with all those stripes.
They are a beautiful breed, though, and I can see why people like them.
EEs are great! I love the two I have -- one is a pullet who lays green eggs, and the other is an incredibly sweet cockerel.Lol, I get that! I'm glad everyone has different taste, how boring it would be if everyone liked only one type and color of chicken!
If I was starting with a new flock, I wouldn't be surprised if I'd pick a couple BR's, I know I'd definitely have some EE's, I've been enjoying them a ton! And probably add some purebred Ameraucana's, cream legbars, GLW and SLW, for starters
We have 5 uniquely colored pullets and 1 oops roo. I have 2 favorite pullets, Peaches is really sweet, the other is a total goof named Spazzy, oh, and a third, she is pure white and so elegant looking but she isn't into being touched, Cream Puff. So I enjoy her from a distanceEEs are great! I love the two I have -- one is a pullet who lays green eggs, and the other is an incredibly sweet cockerel.
