Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

I don't know. I wasn't really looking for movement, but I definitely noticed it on one. I'll have to look closer tonight; some of the eggs are a little dirty and it's hard to see through those.

I'm not sure how to tell if they've died. I have 5 that have a network of veins and a dark spot that must be the embryo. Beyond that, what am I looking for at this point? This is day 9.

Someone else is incubating the other 13 eggs for me, so I'm not sure about those... I know she had some that started developing, but I haven't wanted to harass her for to many updates.

Woo hoo!! Yes, you will be able to see them moving by now, some will be more active than others. How many embryos can you see???

FYI, I can see embryos moving nicely in the 9 eggs that developed.

LMAO!

Hi everyone, specifically DG who is on here :)

Celtic, that is a bad day indeed. Hope your head isn't too busted up. Must have hurt like a bugger.

Work has been really crazy lately and really cutting into my BYC time (one of my colleagues has gone off to have a baby and we are feeling her loss in our extra workload). Anyway, I am hoping that it is slowing down a bit so I can relegate work to the low priority it deserves, LOL.

Glad you all like the pic of Chicken (see, QJ, I gave in and called him Chicken). He'll eat out of my hand now. I had wondered if a chicken raised duckling would be more stand-offish than a brooder raised duckling but he is fairly friendly. To me anyway. The chicken (ie the actual chicken) knows me and is happy for me to pick him up. She gets upset if anyone else picks him up though, which makes Chicken (i.e. the duckling) upset too. I kinda like that. Only I pass the chicken (i.e. the actual chicken) test.

out of 22 bobtail quail in the bator 1 is has not vained up that i see.. i will give it one more day.
i also put in on of my EX. leghorn eggs in i have yet to hatch one they always die before day 17 they dont lay very much i have had them for 2 and a half years and id roughly say i have got from the two ive got 10 eggs in almost 3..

Great pics!!!
Hi everybody. 70 I love that picture!! You need to submit that to the cutest picture on BYC. They are both adorable together. Ok I am going to post a bunch of pictures of my 2 week old silkie chickens. I need to know how to tell the roos from the hens. Here we go, oh I need names for these little sweeties too.

Wow, that's a bummer of a result on the Leghorns. Do you think the parents might be really inbred or something?

thats whats funny is that i have a roo who has hatched out many chicks for me (barred rock)

so it might be the mothers... but he is a good rooster..

hahaha yeah i posted one of two a few pages back but i want to go get good ones of them its raining so i was going to wait to see if it lightens up before i go tromping in the mud :D
ill go right now :) look out for them in a few mins KK :)

At this point, the dark blood red membrane you are seeing around the spider will start to completely fill the egg (except for the air cell).
