OH girl, it's brutal. If I hadn't got the cream legbars as big as they were.. it wouldn't be so bad. And if the weather was nice it would be FINE. But the light sussex are the meanest birds! Super nice to me.. almost too friendly, I mean with other chickens. I'm thinking if they don't stop, I'll throw them in with the big non-layers and give them a little taste of what bullying feels like.

I know. The big girls and turkey have been pecking at my poor roo the last few days. They have enough room that he just stays away from them. He hangs out in the coop/run with the broody all day while everyone else is out in the yard. At night he sleeps with the silkies, so he has some friends now. I've been worried I was going to have to brood him with the ducks for a few weeks until his hormones kick in and he realizes he is a roo and they are girls.

OK, just to complicate things... I have a potential buyer for my house.. (that's not on the market). My mortgage woman emailed that she has someone looking for my location. So I might be showing my house with chicks in the living room and a goose in the kitchen. Just sayin.

My teenagers and toddlers are in the garage. (confined of course.) I have been taking them out in the day and in at night. That sucks.

Mine are in my back room at night still too. They are starting to feather in, so I'm hoping in a week they will be full time outsiders.

Let me get this straight.... You keep the birds in the house, but your kids are confined to garage? That's having your priorities in order. :p

I did have the fully feathered teenagers outside. But when 2 ended up dead... I'm not taking any chances. They should have been fine outside. And I was checking on them and they seemed fine. But.. maybe it was something else. I don't know. So I take them out during the day and at night I put them in a HUGE dog carrier and scoot them in the garage. My neighbors must think I'm crazy.
