Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Someone please help my duck eggs are ment to hatch tomorrow and some of them have cracks in them but it doesn't look like they have pipped the chickens get in there some times and try and get the eggs so I don't know if they did it i read some where that if the ducklings don't hatch after pipping they will die and I don't know if they have been making sound because I have been at school all day they are being sat on by my duck so if they don't hatch will she help them out
Hmm, I'd be inclined to leave mummy duck to it. If you get a chance to grab one quickly and hold it to your ear and maybe candle it that would be good. If not dont worry let mummy duck sort it. Let us know if you can see or hear anything if you get a chance!

yep.... in the 90's here..... so hot it will take your breath, today was cool and nice tho....hopefully we will get some rain soon! my gardens look crappy!

yeh it hasnt been far off that at times over here. Us brits cant cope with it lol. Yeah all my plants are dying! I had a lovely blueberry bush by the front door with heaps of berries on it and it's practically dead. The grass is looking too healthy either.

Hmm im not sure. I do t know a lot about natural hatches as my 5 came out of an incubator. Umm did you candle them to see if you could see movement? Maybe it could be dry, but would have assumed mummy duck would make it humid enough by her sitting on them. Only thing you can do is give them a few more days and then maybe put a little hole in the air sac end to see whats going on.

Our mallard duck assisted her ducklings when they needed it. She had eleven eggs and all hatched successfully. Only to later have six drown :( it was a shallow dish with a larger circumference. Not sure how we lost six, but it happened. So, after hatching give small shallow dishes and refill frequently. We were camping at fair and came home for morning feeding and we had already lost them.

Our khaki hatched most of hers, but abandoned the last egg. We brought it inside and it hatched almost a week later. Have you candled the eggs to see if there are indeed babies with movement? Our khaki had a few bad eggs. Are the cracks little circular cracks near the top (sort of chipped crack) or are they a crack around the egg?

I would check for movement prior to action. Good luck to you

lol you can always count on this thread dying down in the off breeding season!
Heck, I'm still hatching. Just not keeping up so well because I've had bronchitis. Had guineas hatch yesterday, ducks again next week.
Is it possiable that the inner membrane is to think or dry or something for them to pip through this is my first time owning ducks and now I am getting nervous
I haven't had enough experiences with broody hatches to give you any useful advice. Just wanted to let you know I'm pulling for your little egglets!
