That sudoephedrine stuff (or however it's spelled) sure perks you up. Having a cold is awful, when your head feels like its gonna explode. I hope it's a short lived cold, not one that drags on.

My sister in law is having a baby right now. So I'll be an Aunty by Christmas. I've got no (human) kids but am pretty excited to be an Aunty. Should get a gift for the new parents. Something nice and pampering. What do people feel like having after giving birth? Other than a bottle of Jack Daniels.

Finally lost it, have we?

I go away for an afternoon and the thread grows by ten pages. Sheesh. How's a gal meant to keep up?

I'm still getting over the fact that DG doesn't care for us.

Rouens and Mallards have the same pattern as ducklings. That duckling is mallard/Rouen pattern with one dose of blue. That's my guess anyhow. Time will tell

They are all looking fantastic. Really healthy. A credit to you, SM!

Yes, point taken. I'm just hung up on the eye stripes. That one has two defined lines. No one took me up on my bet!

I will PM you the recipe. You have to let it rise 3 times. I'm still in the process of perfecting the recipe. That's what I do. I take someone's recipe and change it till I'm happy with it!

But it's a sweet dough with a filling and then you roll it up. Can't seem to get it rolled thin enough to appease my Father In Law though.

I asked him if there was a family recipe and he says, "No. My mom never made the stuff. It's too darn hard!"

But I didn't think it was too bad. Just time consuming.

Ducky Update #7: Ducky got out of her shell last night. I had to take her out of the bator about 11 and wet her down. Her feathers/membrane was completely glued to her with dried blood. (from where she hit that vein). Craziest thing. Lots of blood in there! She has a gold speck on her beak. Can't wait to see how she fluffs up. Maybe I'll name her Goldie.

I actually have another egg in there.. Maybe I should name them Holly and Ivy.

I'll get a pic up when she's cute.

Ooh how excting! I'm done hatching human babies. Those I am up to if not over my limit on, but I love other people's cute little babies. Honestly, what I wanted after I had my kids was someone to come cook dinner for me or clean so I could spend time cuddling with my new little one. Or maybe a giftcard for a portrait place?

Mine just figured out that we will have crowers. He was like, "So these are all girls right?" (To the baby's in the garage.) So I say, "Um... no. There will be roosters in there too. I didn't purchase these. I hatched them. You can't distinguish pullets by the color of the shell."

He gave me a funny look... so I rephrased and said, "You can't tell if it's a boy or girl until it hatches."

He understood me then.

ETA: He's concerned for the neighbors. But I told him they are bannies so they are smaller birds. The smaller the bird the quieter the crow... so don't worry.

Since everyone is talking about peacocks on here, get one of those and your neighbors will never hear a lil bitty rooster crow over them loud things. I'm in city limits, and not supposed to have roosters. I only have close neighbors on one side, the other side and behind me are empty lots. I ask him at least every few weeks if my roo is bothering him yet, and he isn't so far. The dog barking, yes. Rooster crowing, no.

Luckily my neighbors are all 70+ and they love my chickens. I take them all fresh eggs. I guess they remember when chickens were a need and not a novelty. And a couple houses down has chickens and a goat. So I'm not the only "weirdo" on my street! That's one loud goat.
