That's an interesting point. I'm sitting here wondering what I'm missing. I have that feeling that I've overlooked something.

2 were without heads.
All 5 were dead.
4 were "placed" in a pile next to each other. That was weird.
The fence was chewed in half, but I can't find the missing piece of wood anywhere.
It's gotta be a coon right? A fox would have taken one bird.

I guess it's with that drake missing a couple weeks ago, I'm trying to link the 2 predators together. But I didn't see any tracks...

I don't know, I guess I'm over analyzing.

Mine are still in the tub but I don't know for how much longer. They are trying to hop out. I have no clue what I am going to do with them soon. I am a front porch that ias enclosed but its not heated at all. Plus I.wouldn't know what to do to clean it up. They are still trying to get their other feathers in so in places they look really funny, almost bald. And they don't have that soft fuzzy cuddly fuzz anymore but they still like to cuddle with me. Would it be too cold on the porch do you think, I would have the heat lamp on and have a dog kennel in there that they could go into when they get cold.

I think they'd be fine out there. Especially with a heat lamp. Do you have a dog kennel? That's what I have Beaker and Bunsen in. And the cochins are in my other one. Actually you can find one pretty cheap on craigslist.

I have a big dog kennel already and it already has a hole to put the cord through for the heat lsmp. I thought I would tape a tarp to the floor and then put saw dust over it. It's easier to pick poop up through too.

Well time for another family Christmas party to go to. Talk to you all when I return. Kisses to everyone.

They only took one bird at a time from me. I lost 5 total, I only found 1 bird. She was headless, in their smaller run, I guess they couldn't get her out. They climbed over the top and went through the netting to get to them. The raccoons next door stay fat enough off everyone's pet food and garbage that I guess they don't mess with the birds. I don't like having them there, I'm scared my kids will get worms or something. I have been hoping they'll keep other problem coons out since it's their territory though. Maybe I should leave them some food with wormer in it a few times a year...I see tracks from them all the time, going to the ducks pool and right back out. They don't seem to go near the coop.

The ducks should be fine there. Have fun at the party!

That's funny, worming the coons. But maybe not a bad idea. It looks to me like they tried to get the chickens out of that small hole and couldn't. There are a bunch of feathers stuck to the wood. Who knows.

QJ, that's not the duckling that was internally pipping only a while ago?? Anyway, it's a cutiepie

A fox will chew heads off but I'm not sure about putting them in a pile. Perhaps. Sometimes they do try to bury them on your property which is not so different to gathering them in a pile. They will chew through wood. So a fox is a maybe. I know nothing about coons. I've never even seen one in a zoo.

No that's the one that hatched 4 days ago. The one that's internally pipping is the last egg I found the same day Edward was killed. So it will be the last offspring from Edward. *Sniff Sniff*

Coons are awful creatures. You're lucky you don't have to deal with them!

I thought it looked a bit advanced to be the one pipping!! I hope that Little Edward makes an appearance soon.

I do feel lucky that we don't have coons. They sound nightmarish

Even more awful because they are cute. Something that adorable shouldn't be that mean and vicious.
This little guy we released right back out. He belongs to the family of coons next door, and wasn't caught anywhere near my chickens. There was a stray cat getting into our recycling bin, so I had the trap set up to catch and scare it, hoping it would go back home. I caught this little one instead, and he was a cutie. Until I got close and he started growling and biting and foaming at the mouth. Mean little things!
Edited because I forgot to put the picture in
