It sounds like it's internally pipped. You might have a little ducky here in a couple days!!!

Woohoo hope thats it and I didn't break it or something(can you tell I'm new at this?)
OK, I just did some looking back on facebook where I posted pics of eggs. I posted pics on the 10th of december. I think I stuck the duck egg under the chicken that day, but it may have been before. which means the 31 will just be 21 days. I thought duck eggs went 28 days. so we are looking more at the 7th. Which would be good as the 6th is hatch day for the chicks

What kind of duck is it?

That's too early... interesting. Are you sure about that date?

no, i'm not to sure about the date.
It's an indian runner pekin cross.
I know she started sitting on the chicken eggs 11 days ago. at that point the duck egg was 2 maybe 3 wks into it. If 3, then it would put it on target for what I'm seeing right?

EDIT for this- I just thought duh, let me find the craigslist ad I posted looking for fertile chicken eggs. I posted it Dec 5th and at that point I know she had been sitting on the duck egg a few days, as I had candled once at that point and saw veins.
and another edit....Since the dates are so far apart between the duck egg and chicken eggs, should I bring the duck egg in and stick it in the kids chickbator? or leave them be for now?

That sounds about right then. I'd leave it out there and see what happens. She's done a pretty good job so far, sounds like.

another dumb question...from internal pipping to hatch, about how long does it take?
If we remove the chick to the brooder while it's still tiny(like after it dries off and can stand) do you think the chicken will continue to sit on the other eggs, or will I likely need to rescue them?
dude...if it were summer this decision would be so much easier, but it's winter. theres snow out there. and its cold.

From internal pip to hatch is 2 to 3 days. I would just watch it real close and see how it goes. Mama may end up doing an awesome job!

ETA: That's not a dumb question!
