So I now have

this morning ~ My total hatch of my turkeys
I SET 35...

16 Midget White Turkeys
5 Bourbon Reds
2 Royal Palm
2 Narragansett

I have 2 Chocolate, 1 NS, 3 MW still pipping !!!
I think I counted right ???

Only 6 Midget White, & 1 Narragansett left to hatch

So out of 53 Fertile Turkey eggs I so far have hatched 42 (if the 6 that are pipping make it)

Whatever I do not sell are going to go into our walk in smoker & slow smoked for days, then tossed in the freezer! Maybe I will hook up some of you guys in the next 5 months! I am all about good good food. It is one of my passions! I am making a cookbook that I have been working on for 3 years! Called "The Gourmet Goddess" A sensual cookbook

I was TOLD..... Emus are sweet when raised properly (like anything else I guess), and Rheas & Ostriches are pissy butts.

I luv your rules on hatching especially the last 2 !!!

My hubby is just the greatest.... He always like okay lets do it !!! Which is probally a bad thing if you think about it

What do you think of the royal palm temperment? I think they are beautiful. But I don't know much about them. And I'm NOT bidding on any eggs.

i think they are realively calm and so fun to look at.. turkeys can be quite overly eager.. and think that they are starving ALLL THE TIME!!! they will jump on you to get a bagle out of your hand..
or knock down the trash can full of food before you can get to it and throw it on the ground every day i have a race with my turkeys.. the race is who can get to the barn first and open the trash can before the other gets to it.. yes my turkeys work together to open my plastic trash can

OKAY you guys are gonna freak... I have never had turkeys before!!! I now have a sh*tload

BUt we have the space, I have my internet savy, my ability to sell, and take beautiful images. I have a supportive hunny who is quite handy

& loves the Barbie & Meat Smoking

So I now know 30 quail = 4 pounds of meat
1 Rabbit = 4 pounds of meat

Next will be the culling of my guineas. Then I will hatch more to grow.

I will keep my best birds at a ratio of 1 roo to 3-4 hens.

So I hope this doesn't make me a Crazy Craze

This sounds stupid... but are they nice? I remember having them as kids. My parents had a brown kind of turkey and we ate them. I don't remember them chasing me or being afraid of them. (We had a bannie rooster that attacked us EVERY time we went outside.)
