Hi duck hatching friends,

Today is now day 27, and I don't think my ducky is going to make it. I candled it this morning, and the ducky has not internally pipped. I THINK I see a touch of movement along a pointy looking edge in one spot that MAY be the beak trying to break into air cell, but it is probably my eyes playing tricks on me. Chances are high this guy is already dead in the shell. Last night my hubby was googling eggtopsy and bumming pretty hard about it. At least the odds are good that 1-2+ will hatch out of the 12 growing strong on day 12, plus I have the other dozen eggs on the way next week. I may even toss a few goose eggs into the bator too, but I hear those are even harder to hatch than duck eggs.

Hang in there though. I've had the same thing happen and it turned into a ducky. Ya know, sometimes not, but I have had a few that were very unactive right before internally pipping. Check again today and see if you see movement in that same area. (There on the line).

Do you have the eggs on their sides? OR in a turner?

well, I ordered my chocs.. !!!!!!... I was hoping you'd come on last night so I could tell ya! Oh, and we all had a lesson is Aussie-isms. You might want to read that. I laughed so hard my hubby was like, "Are the chicken people being funny again?"

QJ, I won't toss the egg out yet, but I don't have high hopes. The eggs are on their sides and I try to angle them so the fat end is slightly higher up. The 1st egg is in a bator that hubby made and got manually turned 3-4 times per day. The 2nd set of eggs are in a LG still air and get manually turned every 12 hours. Temp and humidity stay super stable and those eggs are all doing great. All 12 eggs had full spider veins with happy dancing embryos by day 5.

I know our temp was too low with the 1st set in the beginning as we were not using an accurate thermometer and almost all the eggs from the 1st set showed the blood ring by between day 5-7. This egg was the slowest to show anything and I debated on tossing it on day 7, but then on day 8 it started to show the textbook signs of developing.

OMG! The egg is twitching!!!! So, I totally suck and could not stop myself from candling it again.... and holy crap! I saw the beak in the air cell and clear movement! It MAY hatch after all!!!!!!!
