Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

SM, sorry about the laminitis issues. That can really suck! Glad he has his goat buddies to keep him company when cooped up. (pardon the pun) I have 3 boys and hubby has a mare. We have had them for 10 years now and they are our kids. We boarded in the 1st year and I hated not having them on property.... so we moved out of the city. :)

I wish we could get a place in the country. Then I could have whatever I wanted as far as animals.

Iain, he doesn't act like he has laminitis. He got his leg caught in bar wire in the summer, right at the hock, almost all the way through. Because he had all his weight on the other leg, he got laminitis in it. It sucks cause I want him in the pasture. I hate having him in a dry lot. We took his shoes off for the winter though and he is doing fine. They say you have to have shoes on all the time or it could kill them. He is out there running and bucking and just having a blast chasing the goats. The farrier said he doesn't see much laminitis in the hoof so I will just wait till next year and see how he does.

How long do chicken eggs take to hatch? and at what temp and humidity do they need to be at?

What about the geese eggs?

21 days, and around 35-45% for the chooks. Bump to 64-70%ish around lockdown, I believe. (I usually use a broody, so I'm not exactly sure, better double check.) Still air 101.5, forced air 99.5
28-32 days for the geese. About 45-55% for incubation, 65-75% during lockdown. Around 100.5, 98.5 Lower half a degree at lockdown. Take out and mist lightly and let cool for 5 minutes a day starting day 7, working your way gradually up to 15 minutes a day by day 14 until lockdown.

Ooooo I do not know this breed. I must google.

I too like cheese. Actually, the more appropriate term is love. I love cheese. In fact, I just ate a piece of cheese. Just now. It was yellow.

They are the cutest little things. I bottle fed a jersey bottle baby when I stayed at my grandparents for a summer when I was little. He was the sweetest thing.
