Hmm true about them dying before day 20. In which case I'm not sure. I don't know anything about dry hatches. I'm sure someone on here does.

I'm really stumped too. Thanks for trying to help! I appreciate it. Hopefully, like you said, someone has experience doing it and could help me out.

I have and haven't found any really good threads about it and nothing that explains what my problem is.

The longer this egg goes without pipping, the crazier I become. It was supposed to hatch out today/tomorrow but there isn't a single peep or wiggle coming from it!

Does anyone have experience with hatching call duck eggs? It's difficult enough just because it's a Call, but I'm going totally bonkers over this. ><;;

Ok so I had to run to the feed store for duckling feed and they gave me their All Purpose Poultry blend. Is that right? Anything I should be giving on the sidE?

Also, he's gettin' fluffeh!

What a sweet duckie! You must be buying from Del's. I usually do the first three weeks on Flock Raiser and then switch to a lower protein.

Hey guys, I'm about to worm the chickens with eprinex and was wondering if I should get the ducks and Lacie goose too while I'm at it? Not sure if the dosage would be the same as for chickens, but it has no egg withdrawal, which is nice.

It's probably best to worm them all. I don't know much about eprinex though, I've had my birds on a regimen of DE in their feed for a week quarterly as a preventative.

My little ducky has been dubbed Jasper . I'm working on getting him acclimated to the brooder and the Ecoglow seems to be helping. I have to keep showing him the water after he eats because he shakes his head from the gunky food. He has a hand mirror as a faux buddy for now, until the rest hatch next week.

The food I bought is only 18% protein so I will pick up chick starter today. However since this food has niacin in it can I do a 50/50 so that I don't have to supplement with niacin? If not I'll just get some and add it to his water.

Oh and one more question, several of the eggs in the incubator look like they are from young ducks and are quite a bit smaller. Should I expect those guys to hatch early?

All feeds have some niacin in it. The percentage is the issue. Keep that All Purpose for when they're a bit older and feed either Chick Starter or Flock Raiser. The FR has a better amount of niacin, so you'll probably do better if you go that way.

I dry hatch. My bator is at 99.5 and stays around 30% for humidity. Sometimes a bit higher and every once in awhile a Lil lower but if it gets lower than 30% I add a Lil bit of water to it. I'm using a farms innovator circulated air incubator. I never open the bator during lockdown. My eggs always seem to die before lockdown anyway. I've had problems with the fan since I got it but that never affects the eggs.

I've never tried dry hatching with ducks, but I've heard it isn't as successful. Of course, our relative humidity here makes it somewhat counter-productive to try.

Are your eggs perhaps from first season layers? I know my first-year layers gave me a bunch of late quitters earlier this season. When I finally got a hatchling, I was so thrilled!

I've hatched (or tried to) silkie ducks, but never calls. The silkies gave me a nervous breakdown. I'm done with bantams.

Fingers crossed that you get some action on that eggie!

I hatched two. One died on the third day (internal issues). The other escaped the run and ran right into the dog kennel.

Now this just sounds like a little bit of bad luck... but this is out of over 40 eggs! Silkie ducks are so hard to hatch!
