Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

The weaker duckling is doing much better, and getting around quite well. It is holding its head up for extended periods and had a poop. I gave each of them a sip of water. They are the cutest things I've ever seen!!!

Excellent!! I had a troubled hatcher last time too who seemed a bit slow to start, but he did great. They are freaking adorable!! :D

Now... Get ready for the biggest mess makers EVER!!!

Yes! The ducklings are doing great! The yellow baby we named Raspberry appears to be a pure Fawn and White runner. She is much smaller than her hatchmate Paprika, and much more spunky, running like crazy all the time. Paprika seems to be a pekin+Cayuga or pekin+black runner, it's hard to say. He (yes he, I vent sexed yesterday) is very mellow and loves to be held. I can't stop staring at them, they are so precious! They love to snuggle up together under the wing of a story beanie baby we have in the broader. Our kids have been taking them out for very short bonding sessions and they seem to have imprinted my 5yo daughter. They follow her everywhere, and when she puts them back they cry and cry for her. She has spent the most of her time sitting right next to the Broder reading them stories and singing to them. It's pretty cute, and she is in heaven! Thanks for all of the support everyone!

Oh my! I'm new to this thread, but I've got a little bugger in my bator trying to hatch on me! :celebrate

Ok, I should say the egg is wiggling...anyway, it's day 25ish, and I need help! This is the first hatch I'll have ever had, and only the 2nd time I've attempted incubation. Out of a clutch 18 eggs (mostly yolkers), I only ended up with this one lonely little guy. I've read I need to drop the temp in the bator to around 98.5 and increase the humidity, is this right? I've just got a little still air incubator I picked up at Southern States, nothing fancy.

Any advice is appreciated!!

Well, I'll give it a shot. My best advice is to focus more on humidity, fill your trays and maybe even place a wet rag near the egg. Then lock it down and don't open the bator/touch the egg anymore, hard as that is to do. :)

Others may have better/more advice. Goo luck and sorry you only had one to make it. Can you get a friend for him/her? What is it that you're hatching?
