Not really. It's not as uncomfortable as you might think.. I only know this because I tried it. Quite comfortable actually. Kind of a tight fit though.

Is that where you went when you found out you were pregnant

Went to put the girls to bed and they were already in bed AGAIN. Love it. But momma Robyn laid an egg already tonight but I must not have enough calcium mixed in this time because it had no hard shell.

Actually, yes, you can put something in there. The best thing is that non-slip drawer liner mat stuff (if you use brand new stuff wash and dry it first). The second best thing is a small bit of bath towel or a small hand towel (with a 'loop pile' surface) and the third best is a waffle weave tea towel. I find paper towel too slippery for duck feet. You need something with grip.

Since his cord is exposed I think that something softer than the mesh is a good idea.

The non-slip mats are great in brooders too.

Hmmmm. Don't have any thing like that but I do have a kitchen towel that would work. I will put that in. If that shell is still attached when I go to bed, just leave it till morning?

My little guy has managed to sit himself upright and move across the incubator. Things are lookin' good for him! Tough little booger. Last time I had gone out there he was barely breathing.

If the kitchen towel is not a smooth one then it sounds good to use.

If the shell is still attached when you go to bed, yes, I'd leave it. In the morning I'd expect it to have dried enough so he's broken free himself or so you can snip it with scissors.

It's best just to leave it till it dries and shrinks by itself as this'll minimise the risk of any infection getting in via his belly button.
