I have runners so i have to wait till spring and they are laying again. What are you hatching in this batch?

FeatherFinder, I bought 10 eggs from learycow which has a mix of ducks. There are some WHxWhH, WHxKC, somw Cayuga and then some others too. Then I have some of my own duck eggs in there but I don't think they are fertile so I am pulling them out before lockdown.

70% 3 of the eggs I put in 4 days ago from my Buff and SA have bubbles in them. What's up with that?

Bubbles? Thats new to me.

SM when you say bubbles what do you mean? An air bubble that moves around when you tilt the egg? If that happens then that means the inner membrane is broken. Or do you mean something else?

A green sheen on your Cayuga is a good thing. The greener the better.

Ewww. If Johnny doesn't work out, maybe you'll get a cute little boy from your hatch? And hopefully they can put up with Johnny until their new man grows up a little.

My female has all black but she hass some of heer feathets that have like a green sheen to them, specially when the sun hits it. I am thinking I do no want a Cayuga drake. Jonny just better start behaving himself and mate with my Cayuga. Or I might have to " borrow" somebody's drake. Do they have drake services out there? They have stud services for horses. Lol

Put her on a leash and take her to the closest park with ducks for a "playdate"? Lol

That is so funny and brings back memories. When i first got my 3 Muscovie hens going on 8 years ago now, There were 2 drakes down at the river below our home well one day I got this great idea
smack.gif
that i would put one of my girls in a dog harness and take her down to meet the boys, since i was trying to lure them home, well we got down to the river and I let her swim around with the harness on attached to a long retractable lesh when she came out of the harness and started swimming around on her own, needless to say she spent the night there and I was worried sick she would be eaten by something, she is white an glows in the dark
lau.gif
but the next day one of the drakes walked her home and stayed. It was a miracle to me because I tried my best to get her out of the water, and of course she wanted no part of it. Since then the drake is still here and has become the old man of the flock, and the 3 girls are still very much attached to him. just thought I'd share my experience when taking a duck to meet other ducks. Didn't have duck harnesses back then.
