Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Where did everybody go? I am such a room killer. I walk in and everybody leaves and slams the door shut on me.

I'm here, but so tired I'm afraid to type anything because my brains not working and I'll sound stupid, lol. Dang kids and animals wore me out today. Kids are all being bratty since it's so cold out and they're stuck inside, water keeps freezing, quail are fighting, etc. Still haven't even got around to digging out my tree and setting it up or sending christmas cards or anything. Now I', just waiting for my obstinate 2 year old to crash so mommy can, she just puked on the floor not too long ago and isn't feeling good so is being extra cranky.

Oh Julie I am so sorry. I hope you and the kids get feeling better. I heard alot of people are getting this nasty flu. I don't want it thats for sure. I have enough going on with my foot, I don't need anything else. I wish you the best thats for sure.

DG said that my duck that I posted the video of is through the membrane and should hatch in about 48 hours. They aren't due till next Wednesday. I am not even on lockdown and I have been turning them 3 to 5 times a day. She said I should not go on lockdown. But if they are getting ready to hatch, shouldn't I be on lockdown? Will it hurt them to keep turning them? Let alone I am a candling addict. I love to candle them but if they are on lockdown I leave them alone. Not sure what to do.

I wouldnt go into lockdown as long as they are moving ok. Lockdown is to make sute they wont get shrink wraped when they break through the membrane, since they already have and they are still moving they should be fine.

Your temp seems a little high to me. But doesnt seem like they should be hatching almost a week early.

How long have they been moving like that? And how long have they been through the membrane?

I have a still air incubator remember so I have to have my temp up higher than the other incubators. Most of the time still air should be at around 101 but when I hatched last time I was too low so I split the temp. Am I suppose to lower it during lockdown?
These eggs have been moving like this for about 2 to 3 days now. The eggs don't move though. They are not rocking or anything in the incubator only when I candle them do I notice any movement and I can't feel them moving when I candle.

maybe thats why all my eggs hatch late

Well if they have been moving like that for a few days dont go into lockdown until your suppost to. Also I would lower the humidity. Dont want to drown those babies

..... But then again if the humidity has been like that for the whole time never mind. Lol. (i sound stupid huh?)

I don't do lockdown until I have external pips with quail or chickens. I dry hatch those though. Still haven't hatched ducks so I don't know. Since higher humidity is good for ducks maybe mist them lightly when you turn them? Stop turning if any pip through the shell, sometimes my chicks take 3 days between internal pip and zipping. I read about babies hatching early while still in an auto turner and being fine pretty often on here.

I saw the YouTube video. I'd say that duckling is just positioning itself. Not trying to hatch just yet. Don't go into lockdown. Keep turning. That's my advice anyway

SM, your black duck is lovely. Beautiful green sheen to her.

The guy who was gonna buy my ducks called to say his girlfriend won't let him have them

I have 5 out of 7 that are doing that. I have one egg that is real little, almost the size of a small chicken egg, that has been moving around in there for about 5 days now. It just zoom zooms in there. The eggs are not completely full like the last batch I had I can still see in the egg and see veins and space. Last hatching I couldn't see anything in the eggs at all. They were completely full, not these though.
