No kidding!

Beautiful baby photos, SM. I think the one with the eye stripes is a blue mallard. Meaning mallard pattern but with a blue gene added. In bantams/Calls it's known as Blue Fawn. We'll see when s/he feathers out!

DG, I'm really sorry to hear about your chicks. Sometimes they can wander away from their mother, so it might have been that. Don't feel too bad, although I know it must have been awful to find them. Poor you.

She did her best to keep them fuzzys under her. I guess they wandered off.

When I took the babies from her to put them in a tote to bring in the house she was mad! she screamed and freaked out, and pecked me to death! Shes being such a good mama.

Hey guess what?! I might be getting some silkie chicks!

Well, it's been nice enough the last few days the duckies got their pool filled back up today. They got a little frisky, and I finally saw my drake on top the khaki. Usually it's been the khaki on top of the ancona... so maybe my duck eggs are fertile finally! I also got 3 eggs today, from my 2 girls. So I'm plugging the incubator in and getting the temp set today. I'll put a few duck eggs in in a few days, and the 4 quail eggs I have and anymore if they lay them.
I've also only got 2 chicken eggs from my girls the last 3 days. I'm out of patience with them. I'm keeping my silkies, the babies(for now, it'll depend on if they are boys/girls), my sizzle, my EE, my leghorn, and 2 of my favorite mutt pullets. I am allowed to have 15 poultry, so that leaves room for my pair of geese in the spring. I am also allowed up to 50 babies under 4 months of age. Therefore, I count my silkies and sizzle as permanent 4 month olds, which means I can also get 2 more ducks and a tom for my turkey hen, if I can ever find a midget white turkey tom. I love my chickens, but since the roosters have grown up and took over with the ladies they aren't as friendly to me. Hatching eggs from my own flock is fun, the roosters are pretty, but I liked my girls better when I was their rooster. Now I just have to hope I can find someone who wants chickens in the middle of winter.

I hope this little baby makes it. She will drink when I hold her up to it. But she just can't see to get her legs under her body. She climbs up my shirt so she can cuddle by my throat. I just pray she makes it after all she is going through. I am naming her Victoria.

Victoria is a good name. Are her legs out to the side like in spraddle leg or is it more of a strength thing? Are her feet curled up or flattened out? The attention and vitamins will both be good for her.

I think its a strength thing. her feet are flat most of the time. She lays on her side alot. when she is out with me and she wants to move she stretches her legs out behind her and pushes herself around. but she doesn't stand up

I gave her a little mashed food today and she ate it. she peeps alot. I can't tell if it is a pain peep or what.
