Did you say your Roo hung himself?

LMAO!! i was wondering who would catch that!!
YES he did
sad.png
it was very sad..
Kayeffcee was his name he was a barred rock leghorn cross but pure white the other two (the pullets) have barred feathers here and there.. he grew so fast he was the last to hatch out of 24 egg (barrowed a friends incubator) and the first to crow out of 6 roosters.. (all those roosters except two died from neighbors dog)
he had a HUGE red comb smooth not bumpy like his brother or fathers (who where all pure barred rocks) i really liked him..
one day i didnt see him or hear him. looked all over the place for him finally went to go feed them and there he was stuck in the hanging feeder comb had gotten stuck under the inside i was so sad.. i mean he was REALLY stuck in it i had to move his head around to get him out
sad.png

so i think when he got stuck he paniced and lost his footing then eather broke his neck or strangled himself im thinking the last one because he was really purple when i finally got him out...
not to bright that there chicken was

i miss him..

Well I hatched 7 Cayugas & I was wondering if the markings as ducklings will tell you how they will mark as adults?? Or will they all just turn that glossy sheen of black/melanistic? I also have a odd ball from the same hatch... Is this one a Blue Cayuga? Or an oops in my eggs?

Any info would be Helpful !!! Thanks Again

I think there was an oops in your eggs. The all black ones should be cayuga, the bibbed ones I think will be black ducks with white bibs. I'm not sure on the first, a khaki looking duck maybe?

Well, whatever they are, they sure are precious!! (Agree with Julie on the specifics.)

I was looking around on the internet at different Cayuga duckling pics.... Hmmm hard to figure out

JZ, they are gorgeous! Cayugas do often hatch with a yellow bib, and yellow on the face too. But it disappears as they grow and in most cases should be gone by about 5 weeks. Your bibbed one looks pretty comprehensively bibbed to me though. Might be that he ends up with some white on the chest. The browny-bluey one is not going to be black. My money is on chocolate. It's not blue enough for blue.

Congratulations on the little cuties!
