What about a blue drake and hen, and a black hen? Then you'd be able to get blue, black, and silver ducklings I think.

DG: Do you know of a good hatchery with a LOW minimum. Besides Ideal. I want to compare some prices.. thought you had probably been researching as well. I think I'm going to go ahead and order my drake. I've been thinking a lot about making sure it's FULL blooded. I'm really wanting to keep my mallards pure.

and now I have three more. I am going to have to upload more photos soon. I don't even have a photo of my newest hen yet. During the summer my husband said I could get some ducklings, so promptly I went to the local feed store and asked which were the quietest and they said muscovys. I looked at the ones they were selling and they were cute but not WOW. Then they told me one of their employees breeds muscovys and had some in the back for sale. I thought OMG

when I saw his ducklings and adults. I think he is moslty breeding for blue fawn but he didn't want to sell many of those so I got a white baby(now silver and white drake), a black pied baby (hen), and a light colored baby (that turned out to be blue fawn hen). They were all supposed to be girls but you know how that goes. I didn't think I would like the black pied color as much but they have a beautiful green/purple sheen.

Of course now that I have seen them I wan't welsh harlequins too. I wish I had a farm....

I need help picking a second breed of duck. My husband has given me the OK to order a drake, and unfortunately I have to order more than 1 duck, so I might as well get another breed. Don't you think? I mean, I hate to have to do that... but, if it's what I have to do!
