Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Wait! SM, why don't you talk to your hubby about building you one? Mine is all talking about how easy it would be to build one.

(I always try to get him involved in some way, like with something he would enjoy.) :)

It was my Grandma's maiden name. I just changed the spelling a little to look like a first name.

What all are you watching on Ebay. I want to make sure I don't grab something you're watching. (Because I'm cool like that.)

:)

i still have my eye on the ancona eggs.
anyone know how much a dozen of those usually go for?
i don't want to pay an arm and a leg for eggs.

Ooh and wulf to answer a post I saw before yes those green chicks where embriodicly died.. They hatch out that color :) bright green!!
they use to use it as identification on who layed what egg. Them some idiot thought it would be a great Easter gift and BAM!!! They got so "popular" as Easter "pets" that people would start buying them on a wym not knowing that A.) they would grow up and grow out of the colors and B.) knew nothing of chickens that the whole state of Florida had to ban the whole embryonic dying all together and now is illegal to own such bird in California and Florida. :)

actually i asked the question lol.

but yea i thought thats what they were.
was just making sure you hadnt stubled upon some amazing color of chick =)

Well, I say in about 2d 11h you swoop in with your mad ebay skillz and snatch them up for $5. I wouldn't go over 10, but that's just me.

yea i have ebay on my phone.
so i will keep a close eye on it.
i hink your prolly right about that.
i didnt want to spend over $25 on eggs.
granted IF they hatch i will make some money back.
atleast the seller has good reviews.
and i emailed her, after these ones she will be posting another auction.

anybody else's ducks shivering right now? Shouldn't they be okay?

First I let them out and Beaker and Bunsen took off flying.. there's a new one, and then when they landed they would take 3 steps and sit... take 3 steps and sit.. Like they don't know how to deal with the snow.

Now I have them in their ducky oasis next to the house, I put a bunch of shavings in there and they are next to the dryer vent..

but should they be shivvering?

What kind of incubator do you have sm? I want to get a brinsea eco next, but that isn't big enought to hold all the eggs you want.

Right now I have an LG still air incubator. It only holds about 20-30 eggs tightly. I have heard alot of good things about the Hova-bator. Does anybody have any ideas on which one I should get? The eggs are beng shipped on Monday, January 16 so I need to find one and get it up and running.

And then add shipping in there. I don't see duck eggs go for much over 10 bucks, but I also have never seen the Ancona eggs on there either. Of course, I'm usually looking for mallards.
