I have a hova bator, the still air one, with no turner. It had been in someones shed for 10 years and was still in the box. But, when they gave it to me it was soooooo disgusting with bug stuff. I cleaned it up the best I could, but it was still stained and stuff. I had to empty the water pan half-way through to clean it because I found that some bug droppings had gotten in there.
REally, when I did some reading the other day I decided that I didn't do everything right, but apparently not too bad. My temp stayed pretty solid the whole time...of course I checked it 15 times a day and made minor adjustments.
Also, with the issue of having them shipped and all the air cells being disturbed hasn't been as much of a problem as I thought. Of course, I am waiting on the two with the worst issues to hatch, so we will see if that happens. It was about a week ago that I realized that I should have been incubating them at an angle because of the air cell thing, so I put them in those plastic camping egg trays (b/c the holes are bigger than the egg cartons and I could kinda wedge them/tip them to be at a good angle).
I also did not realize that I should have been misting them. Never did that. Just kept the humidity right around 50% and the temp (at the top of the eggs) right around 100.

You're on a roll!! I'm jealous of your immediate success! What kind of bator do you have?

Awe! I am so sorry! What would have happened if you said you weren't ok? Try not to be too mad, she is trying to make ends meet! Maybe just be sad?? I know it is hard! We form such strong attachments to our pets!

some guy & his wife from MLs neck of the woods came to pick up a pig, and my mom likes to show off everything and she took them back to see that goats. well we have anitolian sheperds wich are gaurdian dogs for gaots and sheep. and our female had a puppy that we were gonna keep and she sold it to the dude for $200!.... he was my favorite dog ever! i miss him so much! ..... i said i was OK with it because.... well.... we are poor.

QJ_ GQF incubators are awesome? Do you know what model yours is? I hear the sportsmen are pretty good.
DG_ Sorry about selling your puppy. I'm sure he'll be happy in his new home. Did he get to go somewhere where he'll be able to work? I think they are happiest with a job to do.
I haven't seen anything on my tufted roman eggs. That sucks, they looked better than the africans and I have 2 developing out of those.

It is Series 1200. I can only find info on the 1202 on their website. I emailed them hoping they have some directions in their archives. Because my dad can't remember everything about how Grandpa operated this one.

The one I have plugged in is working great. I noticed last night the one I haven't tried yet does NOT have the self turner, but when talking to my brother, he remembered there was a way to turn the eggs by sliding the bottom out somehow. I just don't want to turn 300 eggs by hand!

So, what do we love Anconas for? Haven't done much research beyond Khakis! Why did she sell your puppy?? Was it that she needed money, that the puppy was getting into trouble??

also, anconas are a super rare breed. people with good stock can get away selling a dozen eggs for $50!,,,, my hen isnt the best marked one out there though. the drake is though (well not the best, but he has nice markings) i have a pair.. i want a silver ancona so bad!!! (i have a blue drake and black hen)

oh and grandma is showing interest in all this finally.
she aasked what other breeds were on ebay .
and asked if there were any rouens (she must like them)
