I had 24 call, 5 goose, and a dozen quail in mine. It's doable, they'll be a tight squeeze, but after you pull the dud's it';; leave more room.
My tufted roman eggs still aren't veining up. My africans are doing awesome. No more quail hatched, I have a loner again. He should have buddies in a week though. I pulled 2 call eggs out that had teeny cracks I didn't notice, no sense in letting them contaminate everything else. The calls have only been in about 36 hours. I can see little starting embryos (a darker spot in the yolk) in 17. Not bad, especially since one seems to have 2 yolks and 2 embryos, I might have twins!

OMG. I just realized that breeder is about 1.5 hours from me.

Only about 30-40 minutes from me...too bad they only have pekins and khakis.

really? I want Mandarins so bad. I think I might drive to McMurrays and buy a pair the end of january or February. Birthday present to myself.

So doable. But duck and chicken eggs are bigger than calls and quail aren't they? I have to do alot of research quick on chickens and geese. I started reading about the goose but haven't finished yet.

Chickens are easy. Throw them in there and turn, lol. Don't worry about their humidity during incubation. Knock it up to around 65% when they pip. That's how I've done them at least. I've got my batteries charging, then I'll take a pic of my incubator to show you what mine looks like. There are 22 call eggs, 11 quail, and 5 geese, 3 thermometers, 2 water/sponge cups, and a spray bottle in there right now. Since most of them have wobbly or completely detatched air cells I've got 2 rolls of shelf liner in there (the kind you use for the incubator floor and brooders for the first few days). The eggs are resting upright on them, I prefer that to the carton method, and I don't like turners and can't use them with geese in there anyway.

Yep, I haven't ever done it but have read about people doing it in the incubating section plenty. My broody hens stack their eggs, so I guess if they do it so can we, lol.
