Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

I got one of those rubber horse bowls today for water. Everything keeps freezing on me overnight and then cracking. I think this will be easier. It was on sale for 5 bucks. Not bad.
Me too. Also wish my kid would go to bed before me for once so I can clean the ducks brooder real quick. They figured out how to dump their water today, little punks.

I have a rubber oilpan I use for the outside ducks. It's flexible enough I can turn it upside down and stomp on it to get the ice out without cracking it.
Babies in the brooder inside are being the messes. I use a sour cream tub with a hole cut in the lid, but I need a new one because they are getting big and tip the little one they have.

Hey what do you do with your quail?

The grown ups have a chick waterer under a heat lamp to keep it from freezing. The babies get a lid with a teeny bit of water and marbles to keep them from drowning themselves.

No, sorry to disappoint, QJ, but it's not the bush ("the bush" = forest or just general 'outback'. It's just our hedge. The street is beyond that. Currently being patrolled by a neighbour who has Tourettes. 'Nuff said.

I got the frame up. In the process I mashed my hand a bit when one of the roof beams came off a bracket and swung down and squashed my hand. Well, it's not done right if you don't injure yourself.

Can;t get the silly photo upright so just lie down to view this one. On your left side of course.

Looking back in the other direction. That's not the bush either.

OK, now I go and do the door. I really want a beer more than I can possibly say. But first, the door.

The door would be a lot more fun after a beer. Maybe slightly crooked, but a heck of a lot more fun to put in.

That is very true, Julie, very true. I do need to use a power saw but one beer won't greatly increase the likelihood of cutting off my own arm, would it?
