Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

I thought she had blues. Really I should just stay off ebay. But there is ducky face staring at me. And it says, "Please buy me.. And hatch me.."

I'd want to see photos of the adults before I bought any Swedish. They all look cute as ducklings but most grow up to have very messy bibs. You at least want to start with decent looking parents. That's what I reckon, anyway.

Are you building it all by yourself? Looks much better than what I've managed to do.

Yes, so far doing it by myself. But my hubby will help me tomorrow with the plywood walls and roof and the mesh parts. I'm hoping to have ducks in it by Sunday. At some point I'll paint it too but I just want it secure so I can put the birds in. Ive got a trio of Swedish that are in a small pen and they need more room, the poor kids.

I need to work on my carpentry skills, lol. Hopefully my pen will look as nice when I get to it.
G'night all, going to try to sleep. Hopefully I'll wake up in the morning to some quail babies, there's at least 3 eggs in there rockin'.

That looks great! Except for my neck hurts now.. on the left side.

(It really is true on the left side thing.)

Thanks for the info on the Blues.

JazminesZoo still has no power. She is using every little bit of gasoline left to power her incubator. It could be days until she gets her internet back up.

Her power line pole in front of her house split and fell, luckily not hitting her house or cars. She thought it would be nice to let everyone know she is still alive. She hasn't forgot about all of you! Please pray for my BFF and all of the people without power up north. Thank you!

I remember when SEATTLE was without power for a whole day, and they thought the same thing why isn't my power on....It usually only takes a hour or two... THEY were freaking out

. PLEASE get one, it is always better to be prepared. We never thought we would flood either, & be without power for 3 weeks. Mother Nature is an amazing thing. Having even a small $100 generator is WORTH every penny.

I hope the power lasts long enough. Poor JZ. We'll all be thinking of her. Please say hi to her for us and let her know we're with her in spirit!

I want a mini jersey. I will name mine Bossie and she can be friends with your Bessie. I will milk her. And I will make cheese. I like cheese.

My Husband wants a Mini Jersey too

And once again stupid questions from me woohooo!
Is it really possible for a duck to fertilize a chickens eggs?
I'm sure both my chickens are hens, despite the one crowing(she was laying regularly until she went broody, then she quit and a week later the chicken started laying, their eggs are different enough I'm sure about this).
My duck is still laying and I'm guessing her eggs are fertile to.
The chicken egg I opened had th nice pretty bulls eye.
If it really is a fertile egg my kid wants to stick it in the incubator.
There are no other poultry in the neighborhood, and no roos that I've heard.
The dog won't tolerate even a crow or squirrel in the yard, not sure what she would do if a rooster showed up.
I could be losing my mind also
My kid wants to put one in the incubator and hope a chimera hatches.
Even with the glare it's really visible.
