Julie, Pete's guide seems to want us to candle a lot and then stop turning when air cell makes dip. Then increase humidity when evidence of internal pip.

SM, I am pretty sure Julie meant Chinese geese are a smaller breed a geese. :)

Hubby made fun of me until he broke his leg and needed surgery. He acted the same way. Only he was a big baby. I came home and had to take care of a month old preemie and an 18 month terror. He came home and was a complete baby for months.

After my first brain surgery it was really hard on me. I got home after 3 weeks in the hospital I wasn't even to pick up my purse or a gallon of milk.

I hatched 6 on Jan 1st & 2nd
I set them on Dec. 2nd Lockdown on Dec 30th & hatched Jan 1st & 2nd. 28-32 days
I locked down on DEC 30.

Hope this helps

I can't go by my aircells. They are all dippy now, ruptured allover. I'm going to stop turning them at 28 days, set them on their sides once internal pipped.

Guide says:

"By the 24th to 27th day of incubation (depending on breed) the egg should have lost approx. 13% of its weight and the air cell should be of a good size. The air cell should be slightly slanting downwards. At this point the eggs should be candled daily to determine their progress. Within a 24 hour period the air cell appears to suddenly dip downwards and appears to have grown noticeably in size. It often takes up a distinctive dipped shape and becomes easily recognisable.. . The egg is now out of balance and no longer needs turning. . . .At this point my incubation settings remain unchanged for temperature and humidity, the only change is the eggs are now placed in their final position and turning stopped."

Then it says later on:

"With the chick successfully internally pipped it can breathe easily and rest for a while. However the oxygen within the air cell is soon used up. After about 6-24 hours the chicks bill begins to strike upwards against the egg-shell. This repeated jabbing action results in the breaking of the egg-shell over a small area and appears either as a small raised pyramid, a cracked area or even a hole. The chick has now externally pipped and has access to free air to meet its respiration needs. It is only at this point do I change incubation conditions. I try to lower the temperature about 0.5C and increase the humidity to 65-75% (lockdown)."

Jazmine, is that how you did it??

At least if they hatch the same time you can brood them together for a little bit until the geese get huge. That's my problem, everyone's going to need their own dang brooder.

I had 5 brain surgeries in a 1 1/2 years. It was terrible. First one to take the tumor out, then I had 4 spinal fluid leaks through my nose because of the other tumor I have. They had to keep taking fat from different parts of my body to put back in my head. Of course my hubby called me Fat Head when he heard that.

Put I am not sure where I am going to put all of them. I put the other ones I just had in the tub. I can't put all of the babies in there if they all hatch.. thats close to 30 babies!!!
