DG, I charge $2 an egg for LF duck hatching eggs and $4 an egg for call duck eggs. Don't short change yourself, of 80% hatch for him he has can resell the, at 4-6 each easily as day olds.

Oh im not. They just arent that great of quality. and im selling the chicks for $2.00 a peice (hatchery RIRs) so if I sell the eggs for $60 and the 20 chicks for $40 together. Thats $100! Which means a new incubator and turner!

So glad they're doing well. Yes, it will be lazy day for me. I don't feel like doing anything but watching babies try to hatch. LOL. And of course talking to the peeps on BYC.


How many days are left on your eggs? Aren't you about over the halfway hump there?

i told my bf not to expect me 2 stay next weekend, i am not staying awway from the bator for very long!

Why does he want 42?  

he said something about he has a big pond, and he wants to have ducks on it, and he cant afford to buy a whole bunch of ducklings from me, so he got eggs insted. Oh and he has the same incubator as me, which holds 42 eggs

you can tell someones a hatching addict when they sell hatchlings and eggs to get a new incubator!

SM, so sorry you haven't had a better result, I really am. I'm sure you're feeling pretty miserable about it.
I think you had the eggs upright for the incubation? I'd lie them down next time. Waterfowl do better that way. As for the shrink wrapping..that could just be a reflection of too much time passing before they can get themselves out. I'm not sure though. I'll see if my duck books are any help (when I get up...it's 3am here).
Wulf, you wouldn't really want a koala. They are bad tempered. With huge claws.
