Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Iain, at about 2-3 months old usually. We feed whole oats because A our feed store keeps them stocked and B they are cheaper. Now I will give oatmeal oats to them from 2 weeks up.
Ok, so it's almost time to do the after school run, so I picked up little man to go walk around out back and check on everyone. I hear the geese yelling, not uncommon with this many around, the *^%#! Neighbor is at the fence line with her no good *^%# dog encouraging it to "get it" as he has ahold of my youngest Sebbie goose by the upper chest (near the shoulder)! I screamed at her, she replies with well she shouldn't have been close to the fence. Grrrr stupid people. 2 punctures, missing feathers on this poor beautiful girl and I want to kill the dog. Now I get to file a report with animal control.

Oh Celtic! That totally sucks. I know how you feel. If my neighbor wasn't so old and sweet, I'd have killed his dog like 5 times so far this year.

Shoot, shovel, and shut up. Its faster with crappy people.

Oh how awful. I hope animal control there is better than here, they do nothing.

Celtic, if anyone ever touched one of my animals like that, I would have freaked! Im sure you did. Why the heck did she think she had the wright to even touch that bird?!

Celtic: That is NOT okay. What a bogan neighbor.

Update: Humidity is at 40. And I think I heard it peep at me.

But it wasn't like a peep. I was like.. I don't know.. I can't explain it.

It is like a slide whistle. The don't peep like ducks. They also don't make a lot of noise in general.

Iain- Did you see all my posts the last couple of days about fixing my accidentle ding to my turkey egg?? The wax fixed her up proper, and
my baby is still there. (so far, so good)

Hi DG, How are you today???

Hi Julie - beautiful day today, isn't it? Its 70 here, and my ducks are just acting like duckling again. The must have known it was
gonna be a beauty, every peking left an egg today, and one is SO HUGE im thining about hatching it - looks like a goose egg.

I just ordered a new bator yesterday, and did the math today, and I'll have 2 extra spaces after I put in the ebay eggs I'm planning to win,
the eggs I've ordered for the hatch-a-long, and the eggs enroute.

I've gotta stop doing that!

I think they are officially in their ugly stage, lol. The geese have white fluff showing up, and the ducklings have tails and pinfeathers starting to appear. Monster duckling is still closer in size to the goslings than the other ducks, and he's feathering out the fastest too. He's only a day older, but he's been twice the size of everyone else from the start. I still don't see any sign of tufts on my geese either. That's ok with me, I wanted them because they are small, polite for geese, and quieter than most others, but it makes me a little worried that maybe they aren't roman tufted. I don't want them to end up being huge pushy embdens.

I'm thinking of emailing a pic of them to ideal and double checking, hatchery no crested goslings are ok, I just want to be sure that's what I actually got.
