Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Still waiting for some action from the chickies. If they haven't done anything outstanding since the last time I was up there, I'm probably going to just go to bed. I was really hoping to watch them hatch, but I like my sleep quite a bit too...

Morning DG

Happy you've got yourself some more eggs coming.

I do have limited access to eggs from the zoos (stupid) peacocks, who fly the fence and nest by my husbands shed. My mom has some also, has for years, but I've added to her flock considerably in the last two years!!

There are a surprising amount of people who would like eggs, but I've put you on the list. You are third. I'll let you know when your turn is coming up.

Remember: peacfowl are loud, messy, fly well, like to stand on cars and outbuildings, and make a variety of loud and strange noises, pretty much at will. Way louder than rooster and geese, and that sound carries for blocks...... They also fight turkeys (at least moms did, and continue too) They are indifferent parents at best, so expect to keep haching eggs.

I hate to inflict them on you, but if your sure, I'll put you down.

Good morning!
I am happy to report that Hitler aka Chaplin (who I bet is going to be a girl duck) is 100% back to normal!!

Oh... and Marty.... not to tempt you toooooo much... but since you are getting 2 sebbie eggs, you may want to buy 3-4 toulouse eggs to set with the sebbies (just to increase odds of getting more than one to hatch). All 5 of my toulouse eggs are developing great, so I highly recommend the seller I got my eggs from!!

I love to be tempted! However, I don't thiink I'm going to have room to add anymore until April, after Easter!

I candled my 4 turkey eggs last night, and am pleased to report that all 4 continue to grow, but one has its airsack off center of the big end, with the edge barely touch the top (or bottom). Another one has its airsack inthe small end (Yo! GQ)

I also candled the Giant Pekings, at seven days yesterday, and out of 11, 8 were definately veined, and two were mayve, but I have bad eyes and it was a little hard to see. One was all wiggly yolk, so I'll give it 5 more days, then toss it if its still abnormal.

Not bad for e-bay. Oh, and the English Giant Peking seller (I bought the only eggs I've seen) also offered to replace bad eggs, if there were many bad ones. I think 80% embryo is pretty good, so Im going to add onto my positive feedback, to let people know how good they are. (I'd want them to do that for me)

OK... well, the offer stands for you and anyone else who wants to hatch mild mannered geese. I am very impressed by this toulouse seller!!

I'll do what I can to get Hitler's name changed.... I'll see if hubby likes Eva when he gets up.
