Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

QJ, sure wish you bought that steth so you could hear if breathing is good.... but I think it is resting and will pip for you very soon. You always said it was about a day behind the 1st egg. FYI, I had a panic attack with my 1st egg after it had pipped. It kept making the pip hole bigger and bigger, but was not zipping. I thought it was stuck... but it was fine. The making of larger hole before finally turning in egg to zip took forever, and is normal for geese.

CG, they are adorable!!!!!! I am sure your babies are a bit shell shocked at their start in life. I have found that consistently giving them treats of kale/romaine helps a lot. After so many times of sticking hand into pen with treats.... they come running to my hand when they see it.

I think this has been pretty much the same as ducks, but with some fine tuning. But the time part.. the waiting.

Next time I do this (did I say next time?) I will know more what to expect.

It's the second egg that I'm worried about.

Once my goslings truly started zipping, it only took about an hour to hatch out. Once hatched, we can assess the 2nd egg to see if it needs to be pipped.

Go goosies!

I was estimating an hour on this one. It's moving pretty fast. And then I'll check on the other.. So basically, you read my mind right thar.

I saw your geese are all doing great! What all do you have cooking? I think it was talouse?

i have not started on the treat thing yet .
they loved their bath tho.
so funny to see them running. yes i said running from one end of the tub to the other.
but their personalities are soo different. everyone loves amelia. abagail is just shy and reserved and so girly.
where amelia is the show off who loves attention.

if i put my hand in there and just wait a minute they come to investigate and always get my figners and rings.
