Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Here is a pic of the only pheasent of 5 shipped to hatch so far.....

If they are lively, Id let them go at it, honey. They've done this under birds for years before we all intervened. Their odds are better alone under a reliable hen every day of the week, than in our bator with us. I would absolutely check them in the morning, and if most have made any progress at all, I'd leave them. Remember, patience is a very good thing for the babies. Better to arrive a day late than die from an early assist.

x2. Pokey took forever to hatch, almost a day and a half after pip. Wanted to help him earlier, but he's out and healthy now so I'm glad I didn't.

Speaking of which, he has finally made it out. He's a darker blue one, makes 2 blue like him and 5 self blue babies. Woo hoo, I can sleep now, lol. I'll move him and his buddy in the incubator into the brooder tomorrow, clean as much of the incubator as I can. Then just the calls and mystery goose left to go. Took a quick peek at goose, heart and veins starting to show, yippee!

Pokey isn't the one on the left, but that's what he looks like.

Good work, Julie! It can be soooo hard to be patient. I just candled my toulouse (again) and this time, finally, there is a bit of movement and a little shadow starting to develop.....

Now the even harder part of waiting. Doing nothing while I know there is something going on!!!

Thanks! I'm happy, I hatched more poults than eggs I bought, the auction was for 6, lol.
Yay on the little shadow starting!

my little hospital hatchery, look at the one on the left she is a gorgeous silver color
love.gif
, she was in rough shape her inside looked like someone shook up the egg and then poured it back it
hit.gif
but she is a strong little bugger and seems to be doing really good

OMG, OMG, OMG!!! I'm soooo excited! I went to candle my 2 little butterscotch Call eggs that are due to hatch on the 17th, and they are trucking right along. BUT...just for giggles, I ran my candler over the 20 eggs I just set on the 2nd, (didn't expect to see anything yet, at only 5 days in) and I saw really good veining in more than half of them....and some of them are pastels!! I haven't had any fertile pastels yet! Woohoo!!! I'm doing the fertility dance over here!!

And...I have a bantam hen that appears to want to be broody, so I'm going to lock her up in a dog crate with a few Call eggs. Everyone is hatching such cuties...I want ducklings, dang it!!!
