Yep, some folks are afraid of shadows, but not us. We celebrate them!!


I love the folks who send extras. Got more button quail eggs today. Won 10, set 14.

my little hospital hatchery, look at the one on the left she is a gorgeous silver color

, she was in rough shape her inside looked like someone shook up the egg and then poured it back it

but she is a strong little bugger and seems to be doing really good

Oh, I sure hope she makes it. Wow, what a pure white. Its called silver? I want to breed some silver pekings. Hmm, where should I start?

OMG, OMG, OMG!!! I'm soooo excited! I went to candle my 2 little butterscotch Call eggs that are due to hatch on the 17th, and they are trucking right along. BUT...just for giggles, I ran my candler over the 20 eggs I just set on the 2nd, (didn't expect to see anything yet, at only 5 days in) and I saw really good veining in more than half of them....and some of them are pastels!! I haven't had any fertile pastels yet! Woohoo!!! I'm doing the fertility dance over here!!

And...I have a bantam hen that appears to want to be broody, so I'm going to lock her up in a dog crate with a few Call eggs. Everyone is hatching such cuties...I want ducklings, dang it!!!

Yea, I love the fertility dance, unless I end up preganant myself!

My gut says anyone without progress tomarrow morning is coming inside i cant keep stressin out the hen an i wont lose a baby bcuz it cant get out on its own

Marty. So in your opinion if they are still lively let them go?
When would youstep in? They almost all have an ext pip. Or atleast a dent in the shell

Julie- Adorable. I have 2 still working.. pulled back some shell on one and see a few blood veins so.. I'm just leaving them for now.

Ok.. I had sewer drama, had to call the city.. long story but they were able to unclog the stop up saving me thousands of dollars. Apparently we have what's called a "community line".. Whatevs, I don't even wanna talk about it.
Then I got pulled over on the way home from Easter dinner. Apparently I have a broken head light.. good to know. This cop was a DB (starts with a D ends with a Bag.) I might have gotten lippy with him.. just sayin'.
What a day.

Going to the farm. My dad and the hubs are going to help me finish my coop. We're completely enclosing the coop. I'll take pics.

And here are the ducks I hatched for my friend. (The guy Julie got her/my rooster from.)

Oh forgot to add. Just candled my PR eggs and ALL 6 (because I got no extras mind you) have detached air cells. 2 look like the yolks are scrambled. The eggs were in a carton, not wrapped at all, just sitting there in the carton. With newspaper around it. Whatever!

I'll be lucky to get any hatches out of these eggs.

I won't be getting any more eggs from them. I'm pretty sure they're small time. Their spelling in their emails gave that away.

Hey guys! I picked up 3 ducklings from my feed store the other day. They ordered an assortment from Privett in New Mexico. The store clerk handed me a box with what he thought was 3 Cayugas. After I got them home (dumb me) I examined them closer and found what looks like 1 Cayuga and 2 Black Swedish???? I think? Well, the Cayuga didn't make it today so now I have the other two being all soft and squishy. Can anyone confirm what I am seeing? Do these look like black swedish to you?



The one in the front obviously has spotting on the bill and feet along with a yellow chest and wing tips. The one in the back has spotting on the underside of it's bill and on the bottom of its feet and it is barely lighter in color. Thanks!

That one in front sure does. And it looks EXACTLY like the ducks I just hatched for my friend. I put in an email to him asking if he has any black swedes and if he does then that's what yours is, cuz I mean it just looks exactly the same. Right down to the little white wing tip.

Ahh Thank you. Yeah, the one in the back baffles me though. It's yellow chest is more faint and it doesn't have the white wing tips either. I love them no matter what they are.
