Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Not abnormal. Not sure what it is, but it happens. Doesn't seem to preclude a faulty hatch, so I'd just let them keep after it. Good Luck!

I've hatched Ducks before, but it's been a few years. The eggs are supposed to hatch Wednesday the 11th. but some are already pipped, I noticed on 2 of them:
1st one I noticed had a dark spot inside the egg, candled it Sat. night and seen it had internally pipped. This one had a little bit bigger than normal air sac for it's stage. It is still rocking and peeping in the shell. It externally pipped about an hour ago. (10 am Monday Apr 9th) the dark line you see actually goes up and gradually fades. only one this side of shell. It's more of a spot, not half the egg. It's hard to describe.

2nd one I noticed where it externally pipped has a dark spot around pip. This one had a smaller then normal air sac for it's stage. pipped last night, I noticed it around 7 p.m. Sunday Apr 8.

both of these eggs were on the same side of the incubator one row from each other in the turning rack. I separated them when I put them in the hatcher and put them on separate sides.
Other eggs that have pipped I don't notice any dark spots in the eggs or around the external pips.

I guess my question is: what are these dark spots? Has anyone else seen this, how will it affect their hatch, and what do I do to prevent this in the future? Or is just a normal thing that I just don't remember happening in the past.
I'm guessing they are maybe blood spots or a ruptured vein?

My hatch day isn't today, but it just may end up that way. Thanks for any words of wisdom here.

Thanks qj.
He can move just one leg doesnt work right i think its gettin worse now it just stick out bhind him and he scoots on his stomach.

Well, if he's more than 3 days old, I'd be rethinking his future. If he's still only a day or two, give him time. I've had this with several ducks over the years, and often, maybe 70% are all better by 72 hours. Until then, he's got food in his tummy to get him by, and just dip his mouth in water, or give him light sugar water now and then. Lucks couldn't use his left leg or walk at all or even scoot until 36 hours after full hatch.

I just lost a Saxony. Darn it. It was runty. My favorite one. It drowned in the pool. Somehow it got in there and couldn't get out. I had just checked on them probably 20 minutes earlier. So bummed.

And then I checked on my new Silver laced rooster out in the pen. I introduced them today. And one of the hens has pecked him and he's got blood on his comb. Is that normal?

28 pages? WTH, teaches me to go a whole day without reading, lol. I'll get caught up soon. Hope everyone had a great easter.
I sold 2 of the poults today to cecosugi from BYC. Still have 5, one of which seems to be having problems with it's legs, can't quite get them under her right. She's in the squirrel brooder with pocket resting, hoping she gets everything figured out in a day or 2.
