Glad you have a new friend to ease your way. I'm sorry about your gelding, though.

I've always like dapples, and she actually has pretty good conformation, generally speaking. How old is she?

Thanks guys! Spirit puts a new grey hair on my head every day, but if she can develop to full size and then can fix her deformed foot with custom shoes or a prosthetic foot, the challenges of raising her up will be well worth it. The hobbles helped her get around last night, but sometime overnight she tripped and was on her back this morning. It always gives me a heart attack to see her like that, but it is as if she knows to just chill and wait for me to show up, because it doesn't seem to phase her. I took the hobbles off and she is back to her usual self this morning. I will be curious to see what the vet thinks about how she is doing when we see her this afternoon.

Dutch, she is lovely. So glad she found a home with you. Very sorry about your boy, you did a great job with that injury that many others would have given up on when it happened.
The cabinet behind hubbies dewlap boy is my medicine cabinet in the brooder house. Love how much room I have in it, and that I can see in.
Had to turn the A/C on in the brooder house two days ago. Finally too warm out and needed it running. If we don't stop getting rain soon we will need an ark! Rainy season has hit full force and the ground is soggy from so much recently.
Hubby is just getting by, his command denied the doctor request to transfer him to a major medical facility. So we are back to no doctor here who can help him, and because he is active duty there aren't other options.

wish the rain would find us.. the ground is cracking gonna have to water the yard so the critters have something to eat

Dora did the flip over and wait for mom to fix it the other day .. she'd tripped getting out of the pool while I was in the pen

but she loved the garden hose shower to get some of the mud off

Today when I let the Khaki babies out with the gosling gaggle, they were trying to bully my buffs! That didn't last long, one of the more inspired gosling quickly put them back in their place. Is so funny, on our early evening romp, I've got 7 toulouse, 4 khakis, and now 1 tiny sebbie all following me around. The ducks really follow the goslings, but they will come up to me if I'm still while they are snacking in the grass. (I spend all my time counting babies over and over to be sure everyone is present and accounted for.)

SO, guess who set a passle of eggs yesterday? Um hum, yay, your talking to her. quail and ducks.

Oh, some nameless DH or DChild, peeked in on the pheasents in their cage in the garage. So, for the second day in a row, I was trying to catch pheasents. It was easier in the garage. Last time It was my fault, and one got out in the yard. (Tuesday). It took about 2 hours to catch the thing. I can see why they are successful in the wild. It flew onto roofs. IT flew into ponds. It hid quiet and still in the patch of native grasses. We finally squished it to the ground with the pool net.

That's the military for ya. 20 years ago, I was a navy wife, and we were stationed in Jacksonville, at Mayport. My ex-husband had chronic strep throat, but they wouldn't remove his tonsils. Such a simple thing to do. I can't believe they are treating your hubby like that. But then, veterans aren't treated very well, either. It's sad that our country wants to be protected, but doesn't care for the men and women that do the protecting.

Thanks, Marty. She's a registered QH, and granddaughter to a famous Hall of Fame foundation stud. I've looked at pics of his female offspring, and he really stamped them with a certain look. He was also a grey, and passed that color to a high percentage of his descendants. She looks really high in the withers, probably due to age, and lack of muscle tone from just standing in a pasture. She's 18, so she's a senior horse, but she's spry. In a couple of months, she will truly look like a million bucks!

Glad she recovered from yesterday. She will probably learn, as she grows, that she does have limitations.

Dutch, I noticed the high wither too, but concluded it was lack of topline muscle. I bet she builds up to a xw tree. She also looks uphill.... which must make her canter float for a qh! Nice!!

I have a few ideas to run past the vet today for Spirit to maybe help. We'll see if there is anything more we can do for her.
