Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Hi Dominicsaturday

Glad the hatch is working out so well. I guess I would go ahead and take out everyone who's an hour or two or older, quickly all at once, if you still have eggs your hoping to match. Don't lose all the humidity, or the other eggs will have a harder time of it. With a small bator, you must be sensitive to the humidity issues. Maybe trade the baby ducks out and put in a warm wet sponge to quickly renew the humidity.

Got pics?

I guess I should just shut up now

Not at all haha.

She has actually taken to the ducklings very well. Stuck her head in there and nudged a few of them. They seem to like her too.

I still haven't been able to get all the dried up membrane off the first little guy. What do you guys usually do when they have it stuck to them like that?

Oh how I wish I would have started with a smaller bator......

It's looking like I'm gonna have 11 total ducklings!

1 little guy pipped his shell and everything, but didn't make it through the night.

So far, 6 in the brooder. 4 in the incubator drying off. 1 still hatching. 3 eggs that look like they never pipped.

I'd say that's not bad at all for a styrofoam cooler with varying temp/humidity levels. Painstaking process, but worthwhile nevertheless. If only their mama could see them.

Now she gets to watch 11 ducklings from ducky heaven ... darn coyotes.

There will be more pictures to come, once everyone is out!

Congrats on your babies! My ducklings usually clean the egg goop off each other, but if you have a particularly icky one, I usually wait until they are about two days old and give them a little sink bath in warm water. Make sure you dry the baby off really well before putting back with the others and never leave a duckling swimming unattended.

UHGGGGG!!!!!
I have lost another junior duck to another nuiological problem. They just keep kicking their legs and are swinging thier neck backward. Their eyes are rolled backwards too. They are mixed in with my layers but I do mix the layer ration with Gamebird Breeder Ration at about 50/50. They also get total free range and 2 cups of whole oats spread between 17 ducks. When I picked it up it was just skin and bone. I always put electolytes and vitamins in the water once a day (in the morning then I change the water again for the night.). Please help I just don't know what to do!!!!
